With 50 stores opening up in the state of California, I can't wait until one opens up nearby. The closest one open at the moment is in Montclaire, CA and that's about 40 miles from Los Angeles. That's not too far away but with this Southern California traffic, it's about an hour or so drive away. I'm curious to know whether that location has the grocery section inside. Select locations will have a Dollar General Market that will allow for bargain prices on fresh produce and other grocery type shopping.
The prices aren't the only thing that makes the Dollar General store chain so appealing. Their program, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, was started by the Dollar General co-founder, J.L. Turner to help squash illiteracy. Believe it or not, when J.L. Turner started the company, he himself was functionally illiterate! That's why he is so passionate about this program to help those strugging to read and helping adults achieve their GED or helping them learn the English language. It's a very noble cause and it's one that we should all get behind.
If you guys haven't already, you definitely need to check out Dollar General Facebook to get all caught of up on their weekly deals. You can also visit DollarGeneral.com and sign up to receive text and Email alerts for upcoming sales and deals. It's perfect for those of us that want quality products at the best possible price. Thank you Dollar General for expanding to California. I am sure that most other Californians feel the same. Later!
