The AVEENO Men's Collection for a Wonderful, Close Shave

Hey there.  I have a love/hate relationship with shaving.  I love that I can snuggle close to my wife after a good, close shave, but I hate the nicks, cuts, and razor burn that sometimes comes with shaving.   I wouldn't say that I have sensitive skin, but if I go about a week without shaving, I can almost guarantee myself that my shaving experience won't be a good one.  Sometimes, it would get to a point where I would try to avoid shaving!  lol  But as most men would tell you, going that long without shaving will leave your face very prickly and snuggle time with the wife will go down to zero... Nobody wants thier face scratched by stubble!  I've tried to switch up my razor and that didn't help.  I even switched from shaving gel to foam to back again.  I just couldn't find a good enough product that will leave my skin feeling good and provided me with a close, comfortable shave.  That is, until I was introduced to the AVEENO Men's Collection.  Our good friends at AVEENO and Dad's Central provided me with a set of the AVEENO Men's Collection, which consisted of a face wash, shaving gel, and aftershave.  After more than a few shaving sessions, I'm ready to give my thoughts and insights on the AVEENO Men's Collection.  Let's get to it.

If you have never heard of the AVEENO Men's Collection, don't worry.  Not many of us have.  The line was introduced this year.  And about time too.  The AVEENO brand has been recommended by dermatologists for over 60 years and I know more than a few people that simply love the AVEENO lotions and creams.  They really are that great.  But now, AVEENO has a collection specifically made for men.  The AVEENO Men's Collection currently consists of 3 items:  the Men's Face Wash, the Men's Shave Gel, and the Men's After Shave Lotion.  3 products for one great shave.  Here is my experience with each one.

An awesome shave can be easy as 1-2-3 with the AVEENO Men's Collection!

The AVEENO Men's Face Wash gently cleanses and exfoliates the skin.  It feels like a standard run of the mill face wash when you first try it, but once you start to wash your face, you'll start to feel the difference.  I noticed that the exfoliating beads where not "big rocks" like I have seen in other products.  The beads are relatively small and you can barely feel them when you are scrubbing your face.  This is a big plus for me.  I don't have the best complexion out there and sometimes I need to be a little more gentle when washing my face.  I have tried other face washes before and when thier beads feel like "big rocks" it can be one uncomfortable experience.  The AVEENO Men's Face Wash was extremely gentle and left my face feeling pretty clean.  But that's not the best part!  Once I dried my face, I noticed that the hair on my face felt noticable softer.  Hmmm...  softer hair means an easier shave, right?

The AVEENO Men's Shave Gel was next.  One of the best qualities of the shaving gel is that you do not need much to get a good lather going.  I used a dab of gel, no bigger than the size of a nickel, and that was more than enough to cover my face.  Other than that, I can't say too much more of this gel.  The contents do say that the shaving gel prevents nicks, cuts, and razor burn so we'll see if that is the case.  What I can say is that it does feel pretty good on my face.  It's has this soothing quality to it that I really like.  It's tough to describe so you'll have to try it out for yourselves.  lol  Now, the razor is ready... let's move on to the after shave.

It feels like a silk cloud caressing my face.

The AVEENO Men's After Shave is FANTASTIC!  After my shave, I did feel like I got a closer shave and I didn't feel any irritation at all.  As I was about to slap on the after shave, I braced myself for a little bit of that after shave burn.  But guess what...  it didn't happen!  The after shave went on smoothly and it felt like my skin had this thin veil of coolness.  I loved it.  It's definitely a great way to finish off a close shave.

So there you have it!  The AVEENO Men's Collection as told by my experience.  I can't say for sure if it was one product or the combination of all three that provided one of the best shaves I've ever had.  And remember, this is coming from a guy that would avoid shaving.  lol  The products in the AVEENO Men's Collection feature the ACTIVE NATURALS Oat ingredient and it is known to cleanse, moisterize, and soothe your skin.  That could very well be why my skin and hair felt soft after the face wash, why the gel felt so good against my skin, and why the after shave felt so cool.  And to top it all off, I didn't notice any nicks or cuts.  Usually, I'll have a little something somewhere, but this time around... nothing.  That's definitely a huge plus!!!  I can't stress enough how great the AVEENO Men's Collection is and I have already told myself that it will now be a part of my shaving routine.
